A Midsummer Night's Dream

Mountain West Ballet will hold open auditions for an original full-length ballet

to be presented during May 2012 at the Sandy Amphitheater. Boys & Girls intending to

audition must be 8-years-old by January 28, 2012 and currently enrolled in ballet class*.

 

Pre-Registration (Pre-Registration is required):

Thursday, January 26 and Friday, January 27 from 6:00-8:00 pm at

Mountain West Ballet, 489 West Parkland Drive, Sandy, Utah

(8845 South/off Sandy Parkway)

 

Audition Date: January 28, 2011

Audition Fee: $10.00 **

Performance Deposit: $40.00 ***

Audition Location: Mountain West Ballet,

489 West Parkland Drive, Sandy, Utah

Mandatory Cast Meeting: Saturday, February 4.

Location and time TBA. 

A Mid Summer's Nights Dream Performance Date: May 18, 19, & 21 8pm; May 19th 2pm

Specific audition time will be determinded at the pre-registration.

* Dancers must have ballet trainning to audition and must continue their ballet trainning.

** $10 Audition fee is non-refundable, cash or check only

*** $40 fee will be collected as Performance Deposit at regristraion, cash or check only. If the dancer drops from the production before rehearsal starts, then the deposit will be refunded. Deposit will also be refunded if dancer fundraise the performance fee.

Mountain West Ballet is a community based non-profit organization that preserves advances and shares the beauty of ballet by providing opportunities for aspiring dancers in a professional, nurturing atmosphere, and by offering the community an affordable, quality production for entertainment and educational purposes.

Mountain West Ballet presents two productions annually, utilizing the Sandy Amphitheater and Mount Jordan Middle School as venues. Mountain West Ballet holds open auditions for all parts using a panel of judges who utilize a points-based scoring system. Auditions are widely publicized throughout Salt Lake valley through press releases, mailings, posters and flyers in public and private schools and universities. Our goal is to use every dancer who auditions, which often results in double or triple casting. Dancers from throughout Salt Lake valley representing approximately 26 dance schools, colleges and universities participate annually with Mountain West Ballet.

MOUNTAIN WEST BALLET ANNOUNCES ITS 27th ANNUAL HOLIDAY PRODUCTION OF THE NUTCRACKER

(Sandy, UT – October 18, 2011) Mountain West Ballet, Sandy city’s community-based, non-profit ballet company, announces its annual performance of the holiday treasure The Nutcracker. 

With dancers representing approximately 26 dance schools, colleges and universities throughout Utah, this community ballet will perform the tale of Clara and her handsome nutcracker prince come to life.

Complete with all the captivating charm and magic The Nutcracker has offered audiences for generations, this special holiday production will run December 9 – 19, 2011 at the theater at Mount Jordan (9360 S. 300 E.) in Sandy.  Friday, Saturday and Monday evening performances begin at 7:30 p.m., and Saturday matinee performances begin at 2:00 p.m. 

Sandy City Mayor Tom Dolan notes that, “Mountain West Ballet’s 27th annual production of the holiday classic The Nutcracker is an expression of our community’s commitment to the arts and our youth. We hope to continue this holiday tradition for many years to come.”  

Mountain West Ballet’s Artistic Director Jill Mueller adds that, “We believe -this fresh adaptation of The Nutcracker will enchant and entertain audience members of all ages. This production offers young dancers a unique performing outlet.” Mueller , along with dance instructors throughout the Salt Lake valley, encourages students to audition for and participate in Mountain West Ballet’s semi-annual productions as a means of enhancing their performance skills and sharing their talents.

Best Of State

MOUNTAIN WEST BALLET WAS ELEVATED TO NEW HEIGHTS AS IT WAS HONORED WITH UTAH’S OWN BEST OF STATE AWARD 2010

Mountain West Ballet was recognized with the distinguished Best of State Award in the Arts and Entertainment category; Community Arts.  Awards were presented by Shauna Lake and Mark Koelbel of KUTV2 at a gala event May 29, 2010 at the Salt Palace Convention Center.  Mountain West Ballet is deeply honored with the Best of State Award recognition, as it feels this award is a reflection of its mission and commitment in providing our community with quality entertainment through the art and education of ballet.  The Best of State Awards were created in 2003 to recognize outstanding individuals, organizations and businesses in Utah. Best of State candidates are evaluated by a panel of 100 judges based on three criteria: achievement in the field of endeavor; innovation or creativity in approaches, techniques, methods or processes; and contribution to improving the quality of life in Utah. By recognizing excellence in our community and sharing examples of success and triumph in so many worthy endeavors, it is hoped that we will all be inspired to reach a little higher and strive to realize our goals and dreams.
